PC Restarts AT Windows Splash Screen

When I turn the computer it goes it starts to boot up then right when it gets to the splash screen it restarts, i unpledged it and did a system restore in safe mode and it worked for a while and started again. After long times of not being used (over night) it will work for a few mins and start its stuff again.

I was thinking it was prob. the hard drive

This sounds like it might be a corrupt file in windows and also could be a bad hard drive sector, i would try re installing windows you might also want to check the power and cables to the hard drive to make sure it is firmly connected, i would also check all your other components to make sure none of the cables came lose.

Is anything in your system overclocked at all?

prolly a bad driver or a corrupt file, ive just recovered a pc doing exactly same thing, booted of xp cd and did a repair. sorted back up in an hour with no loss of data

well I want to set up a network harddrive so I just got a new HD and reinstalled windows on it, and took that one out and im looking for some way to use it as a network drive.

So problem solved (somewhat)
