I have the BFG 7300 GT, it is a huge step up from my 6200, but cannot touch my old 7900GTX. Obviously there are better card out there, but unless you play a ton of games it will get the job done.

Do you really need the 512Mb?

I understand cards of that performance class can't benefit from over 256Mb of memory.

If you don't mind a 256Mb card, you can get a 7600GS, which has more pipes (12 vs. 8) and more clock (400 vs 350), AND pay less.

3D Fuzion Geforce 7600GS 3DFR76256GSE Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com
88.88 plus postage

GIGABYTE Geforce 7600GS GV-NX76G256D-RH Silent Pipe, Lead Free Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com
The card I have: $106.99 plus postage Fanless with a nicer-than-standard cooler.

Or better yet
eVGA Geforce 7600GT 256-P2-N615-TX Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com
For about $113 after ($20) rebate... a 256Mb *7600GT*

Having owned both a 7600 and a 7300... Do yourself a favor, get the 7600. I was barely able to use the 7300, and I rate it only marginaly better than integrated graphics. The 7600gs on the other hand was an excellent card for the money, and with a bit of overclocking was able to play BF2 with all the settings on high, no noticable FPS issues. Unless you are comparing a 7600 to a 7600, or a 7300 to another 7300 the 512mb of ram means squat. A faster card with 256mb will trump a slower 512mb card, and I've even heard that some 512mb versions are actually slower than the 256mb versions of the same card! (X1600pro IIRC)

512MB is most probably a waste of time on a card like that.

Thats a good choice, 7600GT's are just as good as most of the last generation top cards (6800/X8*0).
