Default how's this for crazy?

As most of you already know, a while back I bought my first laptop, affectionately named 'Craptop'.

Part of the reason for the acquisition was to learn programming (f95) on it, but without a set of recovery disks, I was worried that it would really mess up the hard drive trying to do dual boot.

Today, I figured a way to resolve the Ghosting issue (because for a while, I couldn't create a boot disk, on account of the lack of a USB floppy drive) to be able to boot into Ghost. Long story short, I finally tried booting off the Ghost CD and it has no problems getting to the drive image that I have created.

So, knowing that I can safely do a recovery of the hard drive if I need to, I went ahead with the Solaris 10 install.

I am please to announce that I am now dual booting Solaris 10 and Windows XP on my eMachines M6805.

And while it isn't really much of a "OC", this doesn't really fall into any other category that I can think of.

The system doesn't really look a heck of a lot different than any other Solaris system, but hopefully that I would be able to do more with it now that I have it running the way I intended it to.

Is there some advantage to using this OS on the craptop?
(Other than being able to do your homework)

not homework. work work.

um...viruses don't do anything. I can get them, and I can store them, and that's about all that would happen.

It's not really so much as an advantage as it is a requirement. It was either this or SuSE LES, and I don't have that yet. At least with this, I know how to get it to work because this craptop is also listed on the Hardware Compatiblity List on Sun's website.

So I KNOW that it's going to work.
