Default a choice of PSUs oc pimps weigh in

ok pimps and pimpettes, i have a choice to make and i need some help.

The time for another PSU upgrade has come. I have two choices for the roughly the same price. I need to know whos played with these two and their opinions etc.

the first is this very nice thermaltake powerstation PSU. While it only has 520 watts thats 100 more than im playing with now. and it has a very interesting modular system. the power station is ugly as sin and would require modding or something.

link to the thermaltake page on it.

the other is the enermax 600watt psu that pimprig reviewed here
http://reviews.pcapex.com/power_supp...eg701ax-ve.php
it is a very nice looking psu and being the enermax line is good to know its not cheap.

i dont plan to go sli, but i realy want a good psu.
modular would be nice but since both are gonna be around 100 bucks idk which is a better deal.

ideas pointers etc?

also if someone is looking for one of these psus lemme know and i may be able to hook you up

I played with the big brother to that enermax (the sli version) for about 2 hours before it blew up on me.....literally. Shot sparks everywhere and let off some nice smoke. If you want modular and you need a descent PSU check out what Antec has to offer. If you dont mind spending the extra bones check out Hiper......the best looking, and the best cooling psu ive seen. Check it out here and its even on sale.

I have an Enermax 600 Noisetaker. It's a great P/S though it is expensive.

I'm really surprized. I paid $175 about 3 months ago at newgg. I just checked and they have it for $137 w/ shipping. And this model is SLI ready. I highly recommend it. It's powering a Vapochill no problem.

Like Sparky, I too had a very bad experience with an Enermax PSU. Although mine was not a 600W PSU it was an Enermax. Anyway, it fried my GeForce 6800. The card was under waranty so it wasn't a real major problem, but it made me quite sad
Now I have a 550W Antec True Power 2. So far it's been fantastic and the wires have some sort of interesting coating on them which I think feels like some sort of powder.

I my self went with Hiper for my new rig, the PSU does look nice and runs very cool. So as Sparky said I would check them out. *edit* o and the box that it comes in is also a tool box, comes in very handy for us moders
