| Hey I've been looking around on these forums for a while so i figure I'd might as well join. So I'll kick it all off with something I haven't been able to find anything about anywhere. I have the casing to an old TI-82, the really old blocky types (still have the guts, but it was given to me dead) Meanwhile I also have a game boy pocket that I picked up in a thrift store for 2 bucks. It was a pretty sweet deal. Perhaps you can guess what comes next... I wanna put the game boy pocket in the TI-82 case. It doesn't have to be too beautiful - I can live with playing on a cropped game boy screen, and I'm planning on cutting the back up pretty bad to allow the cartridges to be put in there. This is no big deal because I hope to hide it all with the calc's cover. However, it would be cool to use the calculator's buttons to control it. I'm also thinking of putting the headphone jack where the i/o port was. I've taken both of them apart and here's the biggest problem - the game boy's LCD needs to be moved higher than it originally was and the ribbon to the LCD isn't long enough. Can I extend it somehow? Luckily, the game boy lets you easily detach the LCD from the board. Aside from that there's issues with the button layout and I'm wondering if it will fit all that well. Any thoughts? Help? Could it be done? If the answers are all no, well do you at least think I could stick some LEDs in my TI-83 Silver edition? Thanks a lot guys | ||

| Etiquette & English Gentleman | Welcome to PR, Pants What sort of cable has the LCD got? I'm thinking it's either a clear, flat plastic ribbon with flat copper conducters, or something more like an HD cable ... If its the first, it's difficult but do-able (you'll have to cut it, strip it back a bit & either canibalise terminals from other hardware, or make your own with a tiddly copper & plastic clamp arrangement), or if it's the second it's much easier, if fiddly (just splice individual wires in). | |

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | I was also going to post a topic along the lines of modding my TI83+ Silver since I don't know how to unscrew those wierd screws. I was also going to do somethin to the N64, but it too has the wierd screws on it. Do I have to buy a special screw driver or is there a home-made tool that can do it? | |

I believe the technical term is "tamper proof" , You can get sets of bits like this one for undoing those. | ||||||||||||||||||||
