Question Dual ATX Power supplies?

Is this possible? I have two 250 watt Antec power supplies for free....I'm using one in my server computer, but I want another, because I'm adding more drives....a lot of small hard drives, and I need to know how to do that? How would I make it work so that both of the power supplies switch on when I switch the computer on?

Thanks...

Redundant powersupplies are a sweet setup, and doable, but I dont know the specifics... Check out any sites that are more server oriented, most gaming PCs dont need that

My guess:

Take the On wire and a ground wire and wire them to the same switch that would conrol the normal PSU. (Off the motherboard plug)

EDIT: Green wire and any black one should do the trick.

You would need to splice the green wire from your secondary PSU's atx connector into the green wire on the ATX connector of your primary PSU.

Also, splice any blck wire in your secondary PSU ATX connector to the same wire on the primary PSU.

Okay, cool...thanks. I'll try that after I stop by the hardware store. I figured out how to turn it on, if the way you guys told me doesn't work. I mean, I could always have a hard switch and just turn on the drives, and then turn on the computer with a soft switch on the other PSU, and the drives would POST...

THanks

Default 2 options

hey bud i like u would like dual psus more power an more molexs without ghetto moddin the two options for this is dual independants where u basically join the power on wire i believe there is info on www.gideontech.com but if u like the idea of redundant then im lookin at the article at http://www.procooling.com/articles/h...ween_psu_s.php this with a bit more skill could really be cool but there are some risks like mosfets overheating but if u no wat ur doin its cool an lucky for me i no half an my fried an his dads are electronics gurus wooohoo
