Default AT PSU question

I'm just starting my first mod to my case and got an AT power supply from my work for free so I desided to use it instead of buying a higher wattage one. I need to know though if I can use a single throw rocker switch with two prongs that I already have instead of the four pronged push button. I've checked my local hardware stores for a four pronged switch with no luck. If anyone has a link to where I should look or if they know how to do it, it would be very helpful.

You had better be using an AT board too. AT boards cannot power ATX boards, and vice versa. They have differing voltages, connectors, and features.

The AT supply is just for lighting and fans. I have a 350 watt ATX running the rest of my system.

I've done that many times. So what exactly is the question you are asking?

My AT power supply has it's own switch on the PSU that turns it on. It doesn't need anything else

Yes, I read it. Am I 100% clear on what he is trying to do? No.

Don't get me if I'm wrong, but what I understand is that instead of using the switch that came with the PSU, he would like to use a rocker switch to turn it on/off.

As far as I'm aware, AT PSU's don't need a seperate switch. The one on the back of the PSU turns it on and supplies voltage. I have one that I hooked up to a battery charger (for RC planes) and to a wire for a little hovercraft I used.

Just flipped the switch and it turned on. Nothing more than that

EDIT: Kage posted at the same time, but all you'd have to do to do that is to open it up, and solder a new wire to where you want it. I'm not sure how comfortable you are opening a PSU (Disclaimer: High voltages, blah de blah, don't open it, you could kill yourself) but it's a simple solder, route wire if you want a different switch to turn on/off the PSU

The original on/off was a push button. it has connector for the power jack into the supply and for the jack that can be used by the monitor's power cable. on the top of the the supply it shows a diagram for a for the wires going into the push button. it shows it as a single throw, double pull button ( thus with one push it makes two connections). I only have found single throw, single pull rocker switchs though. And that's where I have my question. Becuause I need to find a way to connect the switch so that it makes all the connections, because otherwise it throws a breaker everytime. Thanks for all the input so far. And sorry I wasn't more clear before.

I got the PSU working. All I had to do was connect the grounds together and run the two leads to the new switch, when I get my website up I'll post a link for anyone else who wants to use this setup. It works really well and it's very inexpensive, figuring an AT power supply is usually concidered junk where as a bigger ATX PSU can cost quite a bit.

Glad to hear its working. I just set up one of my AT PSU's to power a 60mm Delta fan for my PS2...now I have a screaming computer and a screaming video game system Old PSU's sure are useful!

BTW, make sure the ground wire from the switch is connected to something grounded...I just unscrewed a screw from the PSU and then put the wire ring through the screw and screwed it back in since it's using a 3 prong connector which is connected to my surge protector.

The PSU was pre-grounded inside of the box already. So I didn't really have to worry about that. It works pretty well, but for right now it's not doing much because I'm too low on cash to buy some lights. Oh well at least it's inside. I also just finished modding my mouse. I added a small fan because my hands are constantly sweating. Looks better now, but I need to get someone who can actually draw good to repaint the face on it. Here's a link
