Default Built in 2AA battery recharger in rig. meed correct voltage info.

I want to build into the front of my gaming rig a recharger for 2AA batteries, but I need to know the correct voltage I need to send so they recharge correctly, anyone got any ideas? I noticed the MX700 recharger is 6V, and it recharges two AA's, but does it use resistors to power it down to a lower voltage or not?

open it up. i bet it uses a chip to detect charge prbably delta peak or something similar. you cant just send power to batteries to charge them except for NiCd cells which you can use a timer. with out a controller if you charge NiMh or Li-ion just by sending them power things can get all explody.

Okay so I am going to use my broken MX700 and its reciever to do this mod, only thing that still works is that the mouse can charge batteries, so I came up with this idea. I have the mouse and the reciever in peices right now in front of me, what exactly should I be looking for carbon?

I dont know of a great reason to do this mod, but if youre really determined to do it, why not just run the original power cord out the back of your case and plug it into wherever it was before?

This might give you a better idea of what I am thinking of. I just wanna be able to pop in two AA's and let them charge, and i want the package to be as compact as possible. I wanna know which parts of the mouse and reciever i can discard, and which need to be kept.

you broke a mx-700? i feel like crying and mourning for the death of such a great mouse. a moment of silence.
anyways buy a battery holder like from Fry's or from online or if your desperate you know that place i hate. just wire it up to the terminal out puts of the base station and based by how it charges when you put the mouse in the dock it should charge two NiMh cells. ONLY NiMh and ONLY two at a time. it might damage non NiMh cells. how did you manage to kill a mx-700?

The mouse CMOS died I believe. Wouldn't read jack**** on any surface one day back in early June. Just kept it around for parts. Aight, already have a battery holder, luckily. Are you sure all I need to do is connect it to the base, bypassing all the parts in the mouse? I'll show a pic of what i've done so far.

hmm. it might take more work if the charge control is done within the mouse. open the the base and see whats in there. why didnt you send it in under warrenty?

Here's the finished thing, just gotta install and hide the controller behind the front panel and just have battery bay showing. Thanks for your help so far Carbon. Now to cut plastic without BURNING or MELTING it, what speed on my Dremel should I use? I always somehow burn the plastic and make it look quite awful.

from all my attempts at cutting ABS plastic something melted. maybe that tiny saw blade i havent tried that yet. you could use a x-acto maybe.

I'll try an x-acto knife first, and if that doesn't work then off to the handsaw I go. If not that, then off to the dremel I go. Good idea man.

B*boy... I am not sure if you got skillz... but what I can say is that you got a lot of courage in the way you rip apart things.

I would be too afraid to take a thing apart like that. Hope your mod works.

Havn't installed it, but it does work, I can tell you that. I do this stuff all the time, so no worries. Gonna install it in my server, because I don't want to ****up my gaming rig, server is metal so i can't **** it up because i am good at cutting metal, unlike plastic. I gotta work on my plastic cutting skills still. Gonna install it when i get time on the weekend. Been busy working all week at my new job.

Here's the finished product, besides being installed. WIll install it on the weekend after a few cutting and tweakings. Needa trim down the battery holder a little bit.

EDIT: Now I have a problem. Should I run it off the AC Adaptor which is 6volts, or could I get away with running it off the 5v on a molex connector?

Just run the factory charger base cord thru your case and out the back B Boy...would be the easiest to do, plus no drain on your PSU that way.

I wouldve bought another mx700 and returned that one bro.

Found 5v works just fine with the help of chrome_rust so I will be running it off of my 5v PSU. I tried it and it works just fine. 5.13 volts instead of 5.8volts, not a big deal for it apparently.
