Question Laptop LCD usage?

Heya.

Anyone here have any idea how to hook up a laptop LCD to a standard PC? I've been trying to find some data on the web about how to do this, and I've come up empty. What extra hardware would I need, and what's the general how-to.

Frankly, I have no clue where to start.

Default Yes, I tried the search function.

I did try looking for the info on this site, but only came up with vague references.

This question has been asked a hole bunch on PR. You would really need to get a lcd controller card which can cost more than 200 bucks. After that, well, I dunno because the conversation usually ends after they find out its gonna cost alot of money.

Well, I must admit that puts a damper on it, but I am still willing. It might even be cheaper to just buy a TFT screen made for a PC, and hack it up.

Is there anyone out there who has had luck with the laptop scenario?

i suggest getting a normal LCD. you can find 15 inch ones for $200 now which is less than the converter box you need to run a laptop LCD

haha up until recently i would have agreed that it would be useless to try to adapt for desktop use. but i have dont the unthinkable and done just that.

if ya find an old desktop LCD that has a bad screen, the old ones use laptop LCD's. i just pulled an LCD out of an old Dell nd stuck it in a bad thing.

I know this isnt the same thing as you were thinking of, but it does use a laptop LCD. if you do find a screen that has the same interface connector, make sure its the same pinout
