Default saitek keyboard and mouse leds

hey, this is my first post!

anyways.

i have a saitek gaming keyboard and mouse.

these to be specific,
http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/gamerskey.htm
and
http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/gamingmouse.htm

now, i want to change the red led thats under the mouse to a blue one, but wil it lose its tracking?

and, i want to put red leds under the W, S, A and D keys on my keyboard, but under hte keys is a plastic with the wires built into it, if i drill a few small holes in them for the leds, will this disrupt the wiring? i would post a pic to show, but i'am waiting on my camera batteries to charge atm.

WELCOME TO PIMPRIG!
Red LED to blue in your mouse should work fine - there are plenty of guides on the web for doing this (and TONS of smarties here at PR to help you out! )

I'm unfamiliar with the workings of the Saitek keyboards - Should be fine as long as you are careful
Anyways, there'll be someone here to shed some more light (*groan* sorry) on the subject

*rumble*

uh-oh! THE WELCOME WAGON'S COMING!!!

Welcome to PimpRig oddysey!

While not a specific guide for your Saitek mouse, this LED replacement guide for the MX700 by our own CLowN should have some good info for you to be able to figure it out.

As for the keyboard mod....I'd have to see how it is laid out. If you can take some pics, we may be able to help you more. I think it's a great idea...very nice way to find those quickly while gaming at night.

I doubt you'll be able to disconnect the lighting for just that area of the keyboard, I get the feling the saitek works by reflection.

I think the besting for you to try would be some red-el wire.

Link along in a mo..

i'm not going to replace the leds, was wanting to mabay put a single/couple leds under they specific keys to give a red glow below them. the saitek keyboard only has the leds at the bottom, and i wasnt going to change them

Are you sure they KB is LED and not EL sheet? I think most illuminated keyboards use EL sheet.

It's LED, as you can see here.I discussed this mod with Twizted today. I think it could be done, though it is tricky, by placing some small LEDs under just the WASD keys and powering them from the 5V USB. Thing is, the keys themselves are not lit, so I would take some sections of clear acrylic rod, bore a small hole into each key (perhaps even leaving it slightly raised for tactile identification) and bond them in place. A switch somewhere on the keyboard would be an easy add for convenience.
