threads per inch for acrylic

ok, for a project i'm doing i need to get screws that will go great for acrylic. my dad is sayin there needs to be a VERY small amount of threads and sayin that any from this list

wont work. I was wondering what you guys know from experience as far as the threads

The number of threds will greatly depend on the material and the thickness of it.
You also need to consider what the use is.

If your just trying to hold 2 pices together you dont need a lot of threads.
But if your building a water block youll want more threads in a short space.

What are you trying to build? a case or a H20 system?

the screws will be used to hold 1/4" acrylic onto 1/4" acrylic square tube. sorry should of specified that

again size is still a factor to decide howmany are needed. a 4X4 sheet would need more than a 1X1 sheet. But I'm sure you are bright enough to figure that out.

1/4 - 20 is a common standard which would do what you need.
10 - 32 is also a good canadate for your needs.

i know about how many i need. i just ment the thread pitch, i said 1/4-20 and my dad shot it down as fast as he could sayin i needed less threads

Self tap screws may work but i've never tryed it. Can anyone clarify this?

thats what my dad was sayin that i should use self tapping ones ment for plastic, Pharaoh just so i can prove it to him do you have any example where you've used them? i really apprecaite the help guys.
