Well, my brother has this old RC car that he paid $200 for new about 4 or 5 years ago. It still works wonderfully, but it shows it's age. So, now that everything but the shouting is done on Project BloodRun, I figured I would use this as an opportunity to occupy myself with something a little less time (and wallet) consuming. So, I'm going to do an over-haul on this RC truck. I'm planning to:

- Repaint the chassis black, silver, or red... You guys let me know
- Replace the ugly wire antenna for something more stylish
- Working LED head and tail lights
- Presurrized tires(???)

Those are the details, I'll get pictures up ASAP.

is this a real hobby rc car or just a toy?
if it is a real hobby rc car (seperate electronics and replaceable parts) a trip to the local hobby shop (and at least $100) will set it off in the right direction, faster or with more flair.
btw the tires you would get are rubber or foam with foam inserts. you can get the tires seperate from the rims and you will need CA glue to glue the tires to the rims unless they are pre glued. you can also buy a headlight taillight kit prewired made by ram electronics avalible at most hobby shops too.

It's a toy RC car, but it is pretty nice. Two speeds, and 4 wheel drive. I've already peeled of the stickers and decided against a paint-job as it looks nice right now. I will however, take and see about some LEDs from radio shack, as this car probably wouldn't qualify for the prewired kits mentioned.

I've been thinking about pimpin' my Kyosho RC car. That stuff can get expensive. Having to run that plane fuel sh!t really took its toll on my wallet after a while. I wanted to turn it away from the dune buggy style body to an Import. I need to find some good sites to buy bodies from!

Nope, batteries... I had a buddy who had a gas powered RC, that thing was wicked. But, sadly, computers drain too much of my funds for anything nice. (Except my computer )

Oh, brother! I know exactly how that feels. Oddly enough, since I posted my last reply, I have been doing a couple Google searches for some parts. I'm going to head to my local Hobby Shop as soon as I can to see what's available. Just have to get the car from my dad's house so that I can bring it in to find the model and all that stuff. I figured I'd maybe try to do some sort of mods to it like a new body, wheels, and some lighting. I'd really like to rice it out (it's fine for an RC car!) with some underbody neons (cold cathodes!) and whatnot. Just need to find out how to get power there, and then find out what I can get for the car. Or, maybe just check into buying a new one and go from there. I've always loathed the fact that I have to use this external starter; so 1990's.

I'd definitely like to move into a bigger engine, smaller car and something not solely for 4-wheeling like mine. I'd like to have a little 2wd car for that and keep my all-time 4wd car for some mountain use here. Bleh. Definitely got my wheels turning! Great idea. Can't wait to see what you do with this car!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I definitely agree, nitro cars are the cat's ass. I knew this guy and hung out with him, he was in a wheelchair and nitro cars were his life. He had this HUGE monster truck that could pull him in his wheelchair. He also had this battery RC motorcycle which was awesome. He had helicopters, planes, boats, you name it! I might pick up this as another little hobby. I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she went ape sh!t. Heh. Something else for me to spend money on!

i got my old Team Associated TC3 touring car. i got a 8 turn motor 20 pin pinion and a 3000 battery back still in it i think. carbon fiber direct drive shaft....mmmmm. havnt ran that thing in over 3 yrs..

All wheel drive...i can lock up the front or rear gear box for some possy racing

last time i was into the rc thing i was just about ready to get the rally kit for some off road action. Hey im gunna put it up in the trading post soon......i forgot about it till this thread..

TY. I thnk I'm gonna do some body-altering on this thing. It had a spoiler on the back, but I may just leave the sucker off. Looks nice, now that then d*mn flames are gone... I just have to find some cheap LEDs for the head lights and clearance lights...
