How can i play a game without a cd(without using gamecopyworld )?

I want to play my lord of the rings game but i dont have the cd right now. (seeing that we just moved, I can't find it) I haven't played it since June because someone packed it in storage.I don't want to use gamecopyworls because my computer isn't completely put together so i'm using my moms. I heard that camecopyworld patches takes up some memory for images and may cause viruses. My mom would then get angry and i would get grounded from the computer. (Trust me, it has happened to me before lol)

You would still need the original disk. But use alcohol to make the ISO of the disk, and then mount it onto a virtual drive.

*Warning*May not work on all games, and as said before. You must own the original.

What is a CD Crack?
No-cd patches are practically self-explanatory. The patch allows you to play a game without the CD in the drive. Reasons for using no-cd patches vary, but most want to use the patch in order to avoid constantly switching or searching for CDs.

How does it work?
When games are launched they usually look to make sure the CD is in the drive. Normally, files aren't being accessed to play the game, but instead to make sure you have a copy of it. No-CD patches go around these safe guards.

Why are they illegal?
To make the CD Crack you must edit the exe file of the game, and take out the command lines to verify the CD is in the CD-drive. In which case you are altering the original software, and that is considered software piracy.

No CD Cracks are also used to promote Warez. This is a cracked version of commercial software, from which copy protection has been stripped. It is also extremely illegal.

Well...you can't. That game requires the CD to play. And I feel for ya, since you won't be able to play it until you find the CDs or re-buy the game.

Yes they are. You're modifing the package .exe file to remove a specific set of computer code without authoring rights from the company.

more important than the cd, is the CD KEY, if you have it, just go to the vendors website (www.blizzard.com for world of warcraft, www.steampowered.com for hl2, etc) and use their support system to request a replacement cd by providing your cd key...

if you dont have the cd key, they have no way to prove you bought the game

if you have no proof that you bought the game, then for all intents, you didnt buy the game, and anything further is a waste of the vendors, ours and your own time...

, jokes aside i dont believe theres any legal ways to do it, so you probably wont find help for it here.

Altering the software is not considered software piracy. That is one of the most uninformed statements I have ever read. By that definition any mod that was made for a game would be considered software piracy.
Altering software is often times a violation of the EULA but its completely different than software piracy.

If you don't want to allow CD cracks on the forums thats fine but certianly don't classify them as piracy. There are many good uses for a no-cd crack.

If you read carefully then you would know I said some of the uses of CD crack cam be legit. However, that does not change the fact that they are illegal.

As for the not wanting CD cracks or any other illegal activities posted on Pimprig, perhaps you should read

I am lost on this one. There was nothing illegal about what he was offering and he has the original game. If he didnt it would be a different story. And dont get me wrong Foe I am not going to support illegal activites in here.

Your link has nothing to do with sarmiccub's question. Your link has to do with making "Personal Backup Copies". This is not what sarmiccub wants to do (especially since he can't without the CD). What he would have to do to play his game without the CD would infringe on the "intellectual propertyÃ‚â€ and "copywrite infringement" among other things should he be caught. In other words itÃ‚â€™s illegal!!

I didn't say it was true... The point is there are no clear cut laws that say if you modify the source of an exe file you are breaking the law.
