| Alright, I've got a super-sweet M$ Intellimouse Explorer 2.0. Smooth and ergonomic, it fits your hand like a... well, anyways. It may feel awesome, but it could use a little spice in the looks department. I want to give it a zesty orange glow. I attatched an orange LED to the two leads from the sensor LED,and it works just fine without dimming the red LED. This is pretty cool because I could probably wire one or two orange LEDs to it and they'd pulse with the red LED. But because the red LED begins to flash slowly after a period of inactivity, I'd like to install a switch to shut it off, lest I go insane from a slow orange strobe. I'd like a three-position switch of some sort, so I can also include a function to have it always "on". Oh, and incase you were wondering, the glow may come from a window on the sides, palm area, or maybe somewhere else. Haven't decided yet. I'm not sure how I should wire this though, as it's a wireless mouse and I don't have any handy power rail coming from a USB/PS2 wire to work with. Help, electro-pimps! Edit: I was playing with this idea (in photoshop): ![]() Last edited by Altaica; 22-October-04 at 09:26 PM.. | ||

| There is a point on the PCB where the 3v from the two AA batteries comes into it, from there you can wire this constant source of power to a switch or directly to any ~3v LED flavor you choose. ![]() Do note that battery lifetime will be greatly reduced, LED mods are best kept on wired mouses. I perso- nally have the mouse and it's great for LAN's etc. but for home usage I stick to my wired IntelliMouse 4.0. | ||

| I see. Thanx Tek. Yeah, that's why I want a switch on it, so I can shut it off whenever it isn't there to look pretty. Hey, 6 months on two AAs is more than awesome, and I have more AAs than a normal person should have, so I don't think that the difference will be really impacting. Now to get me some plexi... | ||

Yeah, aint ebay just so tempting? ![]() I got 20 orange LEDs off of there. Couldn't resist. I've got a remedial, newbtastic question: I want to get a switch that has three positions (On, pulse, off) and two poles on the bottom, one for the constant on feed and one for the pulsing feed. Would this be a DPST switch? Or a SPDT? Yikes, I need to take some circuitry classes or something! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
