Default Panasonic UJ-825-B experience anyone?

I bought this drive for my BOOMbox project, and it requires me to do some fairly serious mods to it. It's a dual-format slot-loading slim DVD-RW drive, and I will need to remote the eject button and the activity LED.

I have the desktop IDE adapter and a bracket that allows it and a HDD to mount into a single 5.25" bay. I read the guide on modding Pioneer slot-loaders and would love to do the internal LEDs that light as the disc is pulled in or ejected by the drive mechanism, but I'm not sure I can figure out the guts without destroying it. Does anyone here have experience with slim drives, especially this particular model? I'd really like to know more before I start monkeying with it.

Thanks, Wordbiker

The remote eject is no problem..it's just a momentary switch, and I can figure that out easily enough once I pop the bezel. Pretty much the same with the LED, but for internal LEDs that are activated by the same circuit that powers the drive carriage, I'll need some more help.
Zapwizard did a guide found here: http://www.zapwizard.com/MediaPC/DVD/Index.html

As for the price, it wasn't as much as I expected. $133 at NewEgg. I know it's more than a standard drive, but the extra space it gives me for both thickness and depth solves a lot of problems for such a small enclosure. It also uses less power, which leaves me more headroom for other hardware on a 220W PSU. Finally, it was the only slot-loading DVD-RW I found.
