| Welcome to PimpRig You could probably build one thats faster yourself for less money through NewEgg.com, if you aren't ready to try that...maybe the next one. Well the hardware is not to bad...should play most games fine, where is this from? The new generation NVIDIA cards are a bit tastier though, I like the 6800's ![]() | ||

| Im assuming these are configurations from some online vendor that builds PCs.....if thats the case I have a recommendation for you. Build your own. I started out buying a prebuilt CyberPowerPC system......in about 8 months time I had replaced EVERY part of the system except the case becuase of either faulty equipment or it wasnt what I wanted. Its not as hard as it seems and you can usually find someone to help you. | ||

| First of all, I would reccommend building your own as well. Building my first computer taught me so much despite how easy it was. One of the most valuable learning experiences I've ever done. Second of all, I bought a laptop from iBuyPower. I'm pretty pleased with it. The build quality could be a little better but it's crazy cheap. However, be warned because it will take ages to reach you. They have a reputation for this and I can vouch for it. | ||

| It is so much better to build your own computer rather than going through a vendor for a completed product. First, you grasp a very good understanding on how your computer works so when you get those BSOD's or other errors, you'll know pretty much where to start on the hardware (if it is a hardware problem). Secondly, it gives you a sense of accomplishment that you can't get by plugging a "pre-packaged" product into a power strip. Third, if you ever want to upgrade, you won't pay the labor costs for someone else to add a video or sound card or hell, even another stick of RAM. Oh, and you'll save quite a bit of money, too. My suggestion is to let us know what general area you're located in so that way, maybe a pimp who lives near you can help you out with putting it together (watching over your shoulder, of course). Another way is to surf Yahoo with some general terms like "how does a motherboard work" or "parts of a computer". I've come across a few web sites myself that have helped tremendously (like online school papers that students have forgotten to take down). You wouldn't believe how amazingly simple it is to build a computer. Perhaps the only hardest part (and the most nerve-racking) is correctly installing the cpu and heatsink. I freaked the first time I did it thinking that the cpu was as delicate as a piece of tissue paper but I quickly overcame that. It's sturdier than that, but don't try to see just how sturdy it is either. Build your own. Just a basic one at first. You'll feel better about it. Rob Here's some links to start with.... Inside the PC.... What is memory? Brief history of the hard drive... Different types of motherboards (hint: you'll probably only use an ATX) Motherboard basics... How to build a computer (kinda old but good tips) and perhaps the most recommended site I can give. Learn to build a computer! Hope this helps ya some...
