Question Speakers & Microphones

So I have some of these ol' PC speakers laying around and was wondering if it would be a simple matter to convert one into a low-fidelity, hopefully-cool-sounding microphone?

I don't see why not? I have used my DJ headphones as a mic in a pinch but you have to turn the mic gain up a bit more.
It isn't going to sound as clear as a regular mic though.

GF is correct, it will work. A mic is basically just a speaker in reverse.

Although to work properly and bring the output to line level, you will need a pre-amp if you are going to use it with your PC. It wil work without one, but levels will be very low.

You can make a speaker into a mic?
I'd really like to try that out. Do you have a guide?

Heh, back in the days of my uber fast 150Mhz AMD K5, I used to yell into a speaker as a mike.
