Splitting USB headers?

I have a bit of a problem with my motherboard, theres only one pinset for USB, which is occupied by the 2 ports on the front of my case. I also bought one of those combo floppy/card reader drives, since i only have 1 exposed 3.5" bay. That connects to the regular floppy port, but it also has an internal USB cable. Can i just wire these together and it will recognize the seperate devices? If thats the case i'd also like to integrate the reciever for my remote wonder into my case. Will just wiring them together work, or should i get a cheapo hub and rewire that?

It will not work correctly just Y'ed if there are devices connected to the front ports. You could do this and add a switch to the power lines of the devices and turn them on/off when needed.

The best thing would be to just go buy a hub an mount it inside the case. You can find 4 port hubs for under $10

Get a cheap, stand alone USB hub and you'll have to do a bit of splitting and you'll need to buy a couple of USB extension cords and splice. If you're up for it, ask me and I'll tell ya more
