Default New PSU Questions???

I have my eyes set on the Enermax Noisetaker 470W power supply which was recommended by Kayin.

But there are a few questions that need answering and I hope someone here has the answers haha. I'm going to sleeve the cables on it even the ones that have already been sleeved because I'd like for all the sleeved cables to match, they'll be BLUE/ UV BLUE.

Question #1:

There are 2 SATA connectors, I've sleeved a PSU before but it didn't have any SATA, can it be done? Because I have a Seagate 120Gb SATA drive now. And what tools would be needed to be able to sleeve a SATA cable?

Question #2:

There are a few EXTRA cables that I want to remove, like 1 floppy cable which is attatched to a molex and maybe a few others like the aux if its not too tough. Can it be done? How? I have a site in mind (frozencpu) that sells pins if you know of others then let me know

Question #3:

Can it support an All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro, I'd like so that I can connect it directly to the PSU instead of using the extra cable that the AIW came with.

Question #4:

Is it easy to custom cut the power cables and re-pin them? Also is it possible to take off the existing pins and re-use them? I've had trouble taking them off because they're clamped down so well, just wanted to know.

Question #5:

I actually was looking into buying the ULTRA X-connect modular 500W PSU, but comparing the Enermax with the ULTRA it looks like Enermax beat it with its 280W +3.3V and +5V. Enermax = 280W and Ultra = 180W. I was told that 180W just isn't that good. What do you guys think I should get, just wanted more opinions on each brand and features.

Thanks everyone!

1.) Yes. El Soldero.

2.) Removing is the easiest part. Get some wire cutters and you're in business.

3.) Yes....the question is have you tried to remove the stock cable yet? Mine was a major PITA. I gave up fearing I'd rip the damn thing right off the card.

4.) Easy?.....no, otherwise everyone would do it. It's a lesson in patience and precision, but certainly doable.

5.) If I had to choose, I'd put my money on the Enermax as being the better PSU, although they'd both run your current system easily.....and you'd have alot less work ahead of you with the ULTRA. Plus, it just looks so damn purdy. Personally, when it comes to power supplies, I'm all about Antec.

P.S.--I charge by the hour.

Thanks for the tips |Anonymous|

Yep I've tried taking off the stock cable and its not that hard lol but doesn't turn on so I left it as is.

LoL I do my own sleeving, and other modding. I modded my own blue LED fan into my PSU which had a black one, had to solder that together + my own sleeving and lapping my new heatsink. Right now also modding a case for a gift to my boyfriend for X-mas, it'll take that long since I'm going to need to buy new hardware for it since it's totally empty.

I'm not some helpless girl lol

I offered to sleeve Mot19's PSU for some fun, and some help to pay for the Enermax because I am broke.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I charge $30 to sleeve a PSU lol plus cost of sleeving so I do good work for a great price!

Edit2: Just thought of this, is it really that safe to solder something like an SATA cable, because it hooks up to your HD lol. How safe from 1 to 10 would soldering an SATA cable be and work as if it was new

Also I used to have an Antec 550W True Power, they don't work with All-In-Wonder 9700(and up). Called up Antec and they said its a known problem and they aren't looking to fix it. Which totally sucks, because I'd buy Antec more often.
