| The summer heat has played havoc with computers at my house, and not with the PCs themselves. My cooling mods have done well for those, but the things I've never addressed have been knocking me offline...namely, the DSL modem and router. Apparently, due to the location and design, heat has been causing some malfunctions, so I came up with this quickie mod to keep me in bandwidth. The power transformer is one of those cheapo "universal" units that actually works quite well for the app. The voltage is adjustable in small increments to adjust the fan speed. The fans were pulls from old dead PSUs. Final conclusion: It works awesome for the money invested ($0.00) | ||

Nice work! I doubt I'll do anything that intense. I just got the old modem replaced for free by the provider...I think they'd frown upon warranteeing one that's been modded. After looking at my own pics, I may do a more permanent base to stealth those wires, something like a laptop cooler. Now that I could mod to my heart's content... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
