Yeah but you need a converter to get the signal to the LCD and they are fricking expensive - sumptin like $150 to $200. Probably wouldnt be worth it.

very rarely, you find a laptop's videocard/LCDconverter is a pci card. Almost impossible to find however. Only if you are an advanced Computer/Electrical engineer could you build one yourself, and had you been one of those, you wouldn't be worrying about the cost of a tv. If you find a pci card type laptop display, you've struck gold, so be happy.

i.e.: don't count on it

Give up now while you are still ahead!! I have tried and failed many times at these projects...I have alot of laptops that have good screens and I had the same ideas....they don't work...unless you buy the converter!!

If you search this site you'll find a dozen threads all about the exact same thing. They all heard no and those that tried ended up crying.

Yes, using a USB video capture device on a functional laptop will work. Do a search on newegg for the various devices available, you'll find the requirements are usually listed there.

On a side note, USB 1.1 devices barely supply enough bandwidth for a resolution of 320 x 200 and the image quality is..... viewable. Don't expect great image quality.

If one of those screens comes from an HP Omnibook 500, I'll send you some pictures of dead presidents, not as good as a TV, but a start.
