Default Baybus Guide (pix)!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever get tired of listening to that loud computer? So do I, heres a solution to this all so common problem. Build your own baybus or fan controller. The parts you will need for this project are as folows,

4 * 240 OHM resistors?
4 * 5K pots
4 * LM317T Adjustable Voltage Reg
5 * Male Molex connectors (not the ones on your PSU, the other ones)
Bread board
Heatsinks
Wire
Knobs
Thermal Paste
Tape
Solder
Solder Pen
Wire strippers
An hour or 2

First you want to get your LM317T chips ready, take some heatsinks (old P1 work great) Drill a hole accordingly with the LM317T chip. Put some thermal grease inbetween the chip and the sinks. Screw them together and they are set.

Heres the schematic. Sorry about the quality, I just scetched it.

Ill explaine in detail where everything goes because well, look at it... Solder a 240 ohm resistor between the center leg of the POT and the Vout (center leg) of the LM317T chip. Then solder another wire from the middle leg of the pot but this time to the ADJ leg of the LM317T chip.

Now solder a wire out from the left leg of each of the POTS. Also solder a little wire from the middle leg of each of the LM317T chips. Now run a long wire connecting all the left legs of the POTS. Next to it, run another long wire connecting all the middle legs of the LM317T chips.

Solder the Yellow (+12) wire of your molex connectors that go to the fans to the middle leg of the LM317T chips, and the black wire of the fan molexes to the wire that connects the left leg of the POTS.
Now for the power molex, solder the +12 (yellow wire) of the power molex to the Vin leg of the LM317T chips. The ground (black wire) of the power molex goes to the left leg of the POTS. Now your done!!!

MAKE SURE ALL NONE OF THE CONNECTIONS THAT SHOULDENT, DONT TOUCH EACH OTHER!!!!

Heres a little movie I made of it working, its 500k, so it will take a little while to load.

Very simple, but effective design. You throw the schematic together yourself or copy it?

Nice electrical work, whats it look like in a drive bay? Side note, what exactly defines a baybus, is it diferent than a rheobus, or is it just semantics? I'd think that this is a rheobus (knobs) rather than a baybus like mine (switches). Just curious...

Thx for the comments guys! Yes, i drew the plans. And I really couldent tell you what the diff is between a baybus and a reobus, never heard of that second one

I have another guide coming in a few days, look out for it!!! Im not telling what its about

ADD :: Its not going into a drve bay, just look out for some updates on project dragon, or just look at the thread, you should be able to figure it out
