Default Speaker modding!

I am going to put some LEDs in an old pair of speakers in an attempt to have some nice blue light coming out of the front grills. The speakers run off a 12V dc line and I will be putting 3 LEDs in each speaker. I have the LEDs, wire, and resistors.
My question is where to attach the LEDs to? I am putting them in a series but if you have ever looked inside of a speaker that has volume control on it, it has a small motherboard in it. Should I attach the LEDs to where the power comes into the board or where the speakers are attached to the board?

Any help would be appreciated, sorry if it is confusing.

Yes you are right for the most part solder them onto the power Lead on the daughterboard OR take ethier LED that is already in there out and use the old spot where the existing red/otherwise leds is, that will provide you with a pre-resisance set point!!! lets not forget to have a few lengths of cable ready just in cse the points are to far apart as to the location of each LED!!!!!

Great post!!!!

Thanks for the help. Another question

What about the second speaker though, the one that doesnt have the daughterboard and is just a wire coming in that splits into ground and positive, and then onto the speaker?

henmce forth why u said to have the extra length of cable!! that other wire that you are talking about is just for the sound!!!!! so you might need to crackj open the speakers (both) and create a new hole afor the wire to come out of!

edit ive got him hooked up on msn im getting him through this mod!!!!

Oh okay, so run cable from the first speaker to the second to power the LEDs, correct?
