Default car audio (in home)

yeah. heard it a million times before i know. sorry. i was even one of the kids with a damn car battery in a plastic tub in my house all through high school!!!

thing is i have a lot of random old car audio components. and my stereo in the house just bit the big one. i've been all over the internet and forums with little help.

to make a long story short i believe that since i have almost all of the components i would need to blow out every window in my house all i need is a way to power the 12v car amp.

i would like to shoot for running my 100 year old legacy 300 watt amp for now. and if i like it i want to run my 500watt kicker amp (rated at 750 or so if i remember correctly)

i've seen a million in home adaptors for 12v but none that will push an amp like that. also since i'm not using an amp designed for 110v circuits will my house burn down???

any help on finding such an adaptor/transformer would make my week!! thanks guys!

I used to run a 400 watt rockford amp for my subs with an old server power supply. I ran it strait off the power supply with no capacitor and it ran fine. You could try using a PC power & cooling power supply or a power supply with a powerful 12 volt rail ie 60 amps or more. You might also want to add a capacitor into the circuit to even out the voltage.

For the amp I don't know what type of PSU, they need to bee really high amp most of the time.

But to run just the head unit and some speakers, any old PSU for any computer should do it.

I got one of these to run a 620 peak watt amp. RadioShack.com - Power & Batteries: Parts & tools power: Power supplies: 25-Amp Switching DC Power Supply

Works just fine. I even had it running a long neon from a car ground affect kit and it ran both of them just fine.

hells yeah. and only 100$ ?? looks like it's worth a shot. the cap is a great idea to. i didn't really think of it but that would really help with heavy bass as well as lights flashing in the house

i'm gonna do a little more research and see if i can fand a dc power supply that will stand up to some crazy abuse.
