| So, with the cold weather (NW Ohio SUCKS right now) killing my motivation to go out to the garage and mod, I've turned my attention to more.. artistic venues. A couple weeks back, I bought a couple Munny dolls. What's a Munny? It's a 8" tall DIY blank vinyl doll, with which the limitations are only your imagination. For more info, or to buy one, check out KidRobot. Here's a shot of my lil guys chilling up on my shelf: ![]() I'm still thinking of doing something cyberpunkish with the black one, but the white one is the one I'm working on now. His name is Spoonman, for no real reason (I just like the song and thought it made a neat name). I took off all the accessories that I put on him for the shot, took his head off so I could work on it easier, washed it with soapy water, and got to work. I'd be lying if I said I had a plan (do I ever?) I was really just goofing off with sculpey trying to get a feel for working with polymer clay, and the design started taking shape. I scraped it all off (since it was a hideous rough draft of sorts, and sculpey never dries out unless you harden it with heat) and tried again. I've redone the nose 4 times to date, and the end result was this: ![]() Working on a small scale when you have sausage fingers = a lot of frustration. The nose still isn't perfect, but I'll fix it when I've got everything else done. Next came the brow. I didn't want a plain Jane blank face, so I decided to give him a Colbert-esque defiantly ****ed brow. A thin line of sculpey served as the original "base" which I flatten and build upon: ![]() I pit another couple layers on the brow to give it some real weight, and then I decided to outline the eyes with some sculpey to give them some definition. And so we have where I am now: ![]() I'm really happy with how the eyes are turning out, they give it a lot of character. I also started working on an upper lip, but I haven't given it too much attention. I'm posting it here because I'm always looking for feedback and input and you guys are always helpful. Gonna get back to work ont he brow and lips, I'll post more pics as I go! -Baka | ||

| Thanks BM! Worked on it most of tonight, added a lower lip but I'm not sure how I feel about it, gonna sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning. I may cure the first layer without the bottom lip. Or I may not cure it at all just yet, especially if I'm going to add jewelry to the face. Kay, I'm rambling, time for sleep. ![]() | ||

| Hey Dreyco, like what you see so far? ![]() Kay, so this is the part where I need some feedback. I've gotten the face to what I think I may want it to look like finished. I just, don't know how I feel about it. Some of the details aren't as polished as I'd like, and I'm going to pick up a set of sculpting tools to get to that before I harden it, but... what do you guys think? Thanks in advance! ![]() | ||

| Been a while since I updated this, but I have been working on it! I finished the face and set it, and I'm quite proud of the results (though I don't have a picture just yet). I added a chin, which really humanized him. I may draw on a goatee when I get him primed and ready to paint, but that's a long way off yet. I really wanted to put some cyberpunk inspiration into it, and my girlfriend helped me. I'd spoken about a mohawk, and while I was playing around with the head, she rolled out some spikes, which became this: ![]() I don't mean to brag, but it's the b*tchin'-est mohawk ever. It's half the height of the head and it really makes a statement. However, I had my first FUBAR with sculpey afterwards . I tried my best to expose the hole hawk evenly to heat via heat gun, but both the front and the back were under-exposed, which meant they broke off fairly easily. I can repair it, though I've been busy lately and haven't found the time. I'll have to take some more pictures this week when I'm not working to really show off the features (like the badass ear jewelry. Forgot to mention I finished that too. You can sort of see it in this pic). Ah well, just got back from a party, I'm kinda sleepy. I played drums in Rock Band tonight, and discovered I am not Neil Pert. We played some Rush, Grateful Dead, and NIN, which was a brutal introduction into why the drums are harder than the guitar. Anyway, enjoy! | ||

| New pics, as promised! ![]() I'm unbelievably pleased with how the face came together. The ears required me to dremel off a bit of the original ears, which wasn't so hard to do as it was to do symmetrically. You can see the missing hair in front that used to bend down, which I'm planning to replace, and you can see the full wrath of my 5 y/o sister on the unfinished sculpey hair here: ![]() Still bada$$, but broken Ah well, lesson learned. I may or may not re-do the whole mohawk, depending on how well I can fix the broken pieces and how well my upcoming plans come together. Thanks for looking, comments and ideas are, as always, appreciated! | ||
