I would go with the 360 one if you have a choice, most of the controller is matte, also that plastic spray paint works really good, I can't remember the name.

Yeah its a 360 controller. Plan on using Krylon spray paint. Probably just one or two colors.

The controller is plastic right? Krylon Fusion would probably be your best bet. You don't even have to prep the surface with Fusion.

Krylon is good stuff! just make sure you wipe down the pieces with rubbing alcohol to get any sweat/food/grease off so it sticks well. Other than that, just follow the directions and you should be set. Krylon isn't very glossy though, so you may want to put a clear coat over or polish it... W/e you want.

Good luck!

Yea thats what I was talking about, I couldn't think of the name. Whatever you do don't get any of that paint on any rubber parts like the cord and stuff, it will make the cord permanently sticky and its a pain in the ass because it sticks to your close, dust, dirt, ect. Also personally I wouldn't paint any of the buttons or the whammy bar.

Make sure to post some pictures when your done!

Talking Re: guitar hero paint.

So i started to take the guitar apart

I took an old shoebox and stashed the wires in it while painting. ( i would have detatched everything inside and painted separately, unfortunately some of the inner screws were stripped but my box idea worked out great.

Then i taped it off.

Busted out the Blue Krylon Fusion. (only cost $3.75 at Wal-Mart) Put down two coats, Then added one clear coat, and then another blue.

Waited for it to dry mostly and Pealed the tape off.

Reassembled and tested it out.

Not the best in the world, but for a one day project costing under ten bucks im happy

Looks pretty cool! You could get better results next time by adding several thin coats of clear after the color coats, giving it a few days to dry, then wet-sanding the clear coats with 400, 800, 1000, and 1500-grit sandpaper to get rid of the orange peel...rinse everything off and dry, then rub it down with automotive rubbing compound, followed by polishing compound, to get a really nice, glossy mirror finish. After a week you could apply your favorite automotive wax for the final touch and some protection. Then, it'd look professional, like it was made that way.
