| The simplest route, if it has a video in, is to just plumb the TV-out of your video card to the video in of the TV. Depending on your goals, you might want to disassemble the TV and remove or hide parts like the volume and channel knobs, or the channel display, if you intend to make it a permanently tethered display. You might also consider rigging it to run off of 5v from the computer's PSU. | ||

| You might be lucky and it just works off 5... Or you could try it on 7... would probably be safe enough. Its easy enough to get 7V out of a PC power supply if you use +12v line as +ve and use +5v line as -ve... 7v differene. Dont take my word for it - have a look for some input specs and see if it give a voltage range or something like that Mark | ||

| Apex Techie II | I've a similar project in the works. I took mine apart and had a peek at the innards to find some interesting labels on the circuit board inside. I'm currently researching how these small tv-like lcd monitors work internally. My hope is that they essentially take the low quality tv signal and transform it into respective RGB components for display on the lcd itself. I'm pulling ideas from my rear at this point, but I wonder if it would be possible to do VGA mods on some of these sets like what has been done to the good ole' psone screen. | |

Build a small power adapter using a LM317 to get your 6v? If the portable TV requires more than 1.5A to operate look for a regulator like this. Although most LM317's will supply 6v @ 2A without issue. The alternative would be using a resistor network (aka divider array) to pull down from 12v to 6v. It's not too difficult, especially since you're trying to halve the voltage. I don't really recommend this method as the use of a regulator is more stable and you're less likely to miscalculate and overtax A) the resistors or B) your PSU. The last fairly simple option would be building a circuit using a switching regulator. The closest common value you'll find these in is 6.5v so a pulldown resistor might be in order.

Good call, I just looked it up and it does take 4 x AA cells. The DC input may be regulated separately though, so if you try feeding 5v and it doesn't work try running a couple leads to the battery contacts.
