| Apex Advanced Techie |  Hard Drive Window Practical? Well aisde from th obvious dangers of even a single speck of dust entering the hard drive when the lid is cracked, how high is the risk for data loss from interference with a windowed hard drive? I know that WD had to hit leaps and bounds when they made the raptorx to get just the right kind of window to allow transparency but block out harmful interference. | |

That's why most people that try window mods on harddrives usually do them on smaller and/or older drives, so that if the drive fails after the fact, then it's not really that big a loss. In fact, I am working on a harddrive window mod right now... feel free to follow along HERE. | |
