| Well... I have been posting trying to find out the best components for the computer I am building right now, and these are the hard drives I came up with. For my primary Hard drive, I was looking at the Western Digital Raptor, 36.7GB, with 10,000 rpm rotation. And for my secondary, a Western Digital Caviar 120GB @ 7,200 rpm. Is that 10,000 rpm hard drive pretty stable at that speed? | ||

| Not too sure on that one. The casing for the HDD itself is like a huge heat shink. I guess the real question should be do you really need that high of performance? The 5 yr warranty is a real bonus ta boot. I decided on not getting the Raptor and I even had an inside guy at Wester Digital who could get me a decent price on them... they were still too costly. I ended up gettting Seagate SATA's that I am running on a RAID 0. I can't hear them and they don't harldy generate any heat at all. EDIT: here is a link on a comparison of some SATA's http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NTIyLDE= Last edited by FeRaL; 16-September-03 at 03:39 PM.. | ||
