Default Hard drive options

Well... I have been posting trying to find out the best components for the computer I am building right now, and these are the hard drives I came up with. For my primary Hard drive, I was looking at the Western Digital Raptor, 36.7GB, with 10,000 rpm rotation. And for my secondary, a Western Digital Caviar 120GB @ 7,200 rpm. Is that 10,000 rpm hard drive pretty stable at that speed?

The Raptor claims a 1.2 million hour MTBF spec and features a five-year warranty. I'd say that's stable.

Just an FYI, as great as the Raptors are, they run hot and loud...

Not too sure on that one. The casing for the HDD itself is like a huge heat shink. I guess the real question should be do you really need that high of performance? The 5 yr warranty is a real bonus ta boot. I decided on not getting the Raptor and I even had an inside guy at Wester Digital who could get me a decent price on them... they were still too costly. I ended up gettting Seagate SATA's that I am running on a RAID 0. I can't hear them and they don't harldy generate any heat at all.

EDIT: here is a link on a comparison of some SATA's
