| I agree kipman, I have seen the same thing. The issue is almost always memory related. You seem to have pretty decent RAM so check your BIOS settings and make sure the timings are stock. If you have any voltage increases or an OC on your HTT, then turn them down for now. | ||

| That DFi Venus board is known to have lots of issues with ram! You can try using a "Ram divider" or bump the voltage up to around 2.7-2.8v, that might help. Something else is it could be sdooing is setting the timings incorectly, and may need to be adjusted manually. I tried a new DFI bios on my Ultra D that had some realy wacked settings when left in auto. Get CPUZ and/or AMD-64 tweeker and post a screen shot of them if you can get windows installed. http://forums.pcapex.com/other_oc_ha...ollection.html | ||

run something that is CPU intensive and verify that the overheating is CPU related first. I would be suspicious of the video card/video drivers before I would upgrade the cooling. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie Lite | ok i'm really thinking that it's the video card overheating when i touch the back plate i can't leave my finger on it for more than a second it is really really hot. i'm wondering if i change the heatsink on the card if that would solve the problem. and if it would what would be a good vga cooler to get. | |

| You can test the theory of poor case cooling by removing the side panel and using a house fan place next to it blowing in. If your problems go away, you need to improve the airflow of your current one, or get another case that has them built in. You shouldn't be overheating the vid card or CPU if they are not overclocked with the stock coolers. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | i tried the open case with the fan as that is how i had it running when i first started getting the problem but that didn't change anything at all after maybe 45 mins of play the game just drops out or the computer restarts once the screen went black with little lines n dots tsktsk. | |

| Well, Did you ever swap the power supply? If so, then its probably memory related (Timings, voltage or a bad stick) or OS related, could be as you said, the video card overheating too.. Get speed fan and post some screenshots (Under 100% load after 15 minutes) along with CPUZ and we will be able to get a beter idea of whats going on. | ||

| if you need a program that can put your cpu under full load heres a link http://users.bigpond.net.au/cpuburn/ some video cards also have a built in tempature monitor if you see something along those lines be sure to give that to us also | ||

| Holy Toasty CPU Batman.. Get that boy a fire extinguisher! 58c core temp is way above the 50c limit that is generally considered a max safe temp. I can see why too, you have the CPU voltage set for nearly 1.8Volts!!!!! You are at stock speeds, so It should be at 1.35-1.4v when left in "Auto" or you can set it manually to 1.35v ![]() I don't like to see more than 1.45-1.55v on typical air cooling when Overclocking, and no more than 1.60-1.65v when watercooled...you are going to have problems when it's overvolted that much. | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | :O i didn't even make any adjustments to the computer i just installed everything i thinks i need to upgrade my bios. cause when i checked the ram timings they were off as well n i had to adjust them. i'll try manually lowering the voltages n see what happens if i can that is. thanks alot so far man you've been a great help. i love this site | |

| I would hold off on updating the bios just yet, you might simply need to reset the existing one. Either move the CMOS jumper (With the power cable unplugged) to the other two pins for 30 seconds (Normally located on the motherboard next to the battery) or you can go into the bios and select "Reset to defaults" If that does not cure the problem, set everything you need to manually, and then look for a new bios. Flashing the Bios can be done safely in Windows using a program called "Winflash" for which there are tutorials on in my links collection below, or should be on the motherboard CD. http://forums.pcapex.com/other_oc_ha...ollection.html Using winflash must be done very carefully, back up you old bios to a floppy, or to a safe place on your PC and possibly another copy on a different PC. The hard part for you is probably finding the exact new bios to update, since there are so many available...though you should be able to find it by looking up your EXACT motherboard model. http://us.dfi.com.tw/index_us_noflash.jsp?SITE=US If you need help on this, you can catch me on MSN ![]() | ||

| Apex Techie Lite | sigh i love this system, i had to update teh bios cause the options to change voltage wasn't there. it had my memory timings wrong as well, but after checking that stuff i had to update my cpu Z cause that was reading n incorrect voltage as well, hmm fun. everything seems to be working right now thanks for the help | |
