Default Very Strange HD/Booting Problem...

Alright, now this is a very strange problem...

I recently recabled my computer after using 40pin wires for too long, and now I get a "Missing NTLDR" or something to that effect, something that I know for sure is definitely there. BUT all I have to do is go into the F8 Boot Menu, select the proper drive, and works perfectly! It's just annoying having to walk my computer through the boot process, (although I have to anyway with a password). I suppose the worst reason for this could be that my main drive is dying (I believe so, as it clicks a few times on boot). But I think theres a possibility that there is some master/slave conflict between the cable and jumpers, but unless the jumpers are set to cable select, cable positioning should be irrelevent...right??

EDIT: The jumpers are correctly set to master and slave correctly, just to clarify.

I'd recommend setting master/slave jumpers on your drives correctly (as opposed to cable select) - the master drive should be the one at the end of the cable (make this the drive that has your OS on it), slave should be conncted to the middle of the cable.

From there - go into the BIOS and set your boot priority so that the master drive boots first and it should work (i hope)

Hope that helps

Just to clarify, (Edited first post), the drives are properly configured with jumpers. When I go to the boot menu, the boot drive is correctly labelled as master, but what kills me is how it doesn't work off the bat, but once I go into the boot menu, it works fine!

Try unpluging the slave and see if it boots properly.
