Default Would 2GB of RAM make a difference.

I just got the chance to get a cupple of generic 1gb stick of ddr 400, 2gb total. and I was wondering wolud I see much diference on the performance¿ currently Im runnig 2x512 ddr400 (smartvision)

You should see some improvment.

Especially if you run more than one program and have multiple windows open at the same time

Well it depends on what you're doing. For average day to day use it wont make much of a difference but if you play games like BF2 and are planning on upgrading to Windows Vista then yes it probably will make a difference.

I just went up to 2 GB of memory.

When playing oblivion load times are down a lot and windows also responds a little faster.

I agree with eascarface, if you plan on jumping the boat and getting Vista you will need it.

It definitely makes a difference. I had a noticeable increase in performance when I upped from 1gb to 2gb. Like Icemage said, Oblivion runs a hell of a lot faster, as well as do other games. Taxing applications will also get a huge boost. It really takes a lot of weight off your system's shoulders to have a little extra breathing room.
