When I built my machine last year I ordered a Kingston ValueRAM 1 gig PC4200 stick. No problems with it at all.
This year I decided to upgrade so I went to my old invoice from last year and clicked the link I used a year ago to be sure I had the same
RAM. I checked the model numbers to make sure they were identical.
As a pleasant surprise it was now a considerable amount cheaper as well.
However, much to my surprise when I installed and ran
CPU-z last night I find that the sticks are not the same at all.
The new stick shows as Kingston and the one I purchased last year is showing Elpida as the manufacturer and both sticks are displaying as PC4300 instead of the correct PC4200...
Could this cause a problem if they really are different?
