Default Computer not detecting floppy or dvd-rom

Ok a while ago I had a problem with my computer not detecting my dvd drive. I thought it was just the drive, well I just installed a floppy drive in my computer and now it isnt detecting that either. What the heck is going on. Is there somthing wrong with my motherboard or somthing? I cant figure out why it isnt detecting either of those things. Although it does detect my sata hard drive.

Ummm... have you had a hunt around in your BIOS? There may be a setting there

Did you forget to plug the power cable into the drives?

Well,as was stated check your bios, make sure you got power, make sure you got a good conn. with your cables, for your DVD , check the jumper setting, in bios make sure **if it applys** you chose the right type of floppy drive , also floppy cables can be installed wrong so make sure your cable is the right way . I would also recommend trying to install one at a time making sure it works , then goin' on to the next item for install, rather than all at once. Hope this helps, and if you can list what steps you've done so far to give a better idea of what to think on.

Quick question, if you're o/c'ing your system (like extremely) then that could cause some components to not 'work' properly or even be recognized. This is generally targeted towards SATA controllers, however it stands to reason that anything else could also be affected. I had an IDE DVDROM go wonky on me when I pushed my A64 3000+ to 285 on the bus (it also wasn't stable on anything just wanted to see how far I could push it).
