Default Incompatibility warning - DFI mobo/Corsair RAM

I had quite a few issues installing Windows in my newest system. During the install I would get BSoDs about halfway through. I had two 512MB sticks of Corsair ValueSelect RAM in dual-channel mode during the process.

Yes, I know that isn't great RAM but I just wanted to get the machine working until I can afford to get something better.

I changed the setup to single-channel mode and was able to get the OS installed. After the install I switched the RAM back to dual-channel mode and the system ran well for about a day and then it started to randomly reboot.

Switch the RAM back to single-channel mode and it ran stable all day today.

Doing some research uncovered a similar problem with other people using a DFI Lanparty mobo and Corsair memory.

Word to the wise - stay away from that pairing and your life will be much, much easier.

Did you play with voltages, timings (Try CPC off wich is 2t) or test them in another rig to make sure there good?

I did not play with the voltages yet. I may try that moving forward but I haven't done enough research to starting playing with that.

Which mobo? The crossfire one as well as the expert seem to be looking for a bit more voltage as necro stated. You could also try switching the ram to the other pair of slots.

Jeff, I am not completely sure that you have enough knowledge of RAM and DFI motherboards to be qualified to make a statement like that. I have two LanParty boards right now and in a recent review I did of some Corsair RAM, I was able to take PC4000 to PC4800 speed with hardly any tweaks. However, you must know what each of the settings within the BIOS do in order to get anything to run stable.

The DFI LanParty is not a board I would ever recommend to someone who didn't have a lot of experience in tweaking and overclocking. It can be a bitch to get stable, but when you slap that bitch up a few times she will run like a freakin' bandit.

I apologize for my references to bitch and her in my previous paragraph, but all my equipment is female and they are very angry all the time.

I did some research and found a couple of threads on DFI's website with users complaining of the same symptoms I have with the same equipment combination.

If I came across as trying to make an 'expert' statement, I apologize. I was just trying to warn other Pimpers to do a little legwork if they were considering this combination.

Many apologies, sir.
