Compaq PL1600R Drive cage Question??

Here's a good one for y'all..........
Is it possible to take the drive cage out of a PL1600R , with the SCSI board attached to it, and use it in another pc. I have an SCSI card and am wondering if the hotswap drive cage is proprietary on is it just generic and can be used in any comp . Reason for asking , it would give me HOT SWAP capibilites in a pc im building

. Hope this is enuff info, if not i'll try and be more spesific

EDIT: here's pics of what im talkin bout tryin to mount in a tower ..........

part number for it is - Compaq Spare LVD CAGE, 6 DRIVE - 387089-001

yup its possible.... the only thing you have to make sure is that you stay with in the same family....

example the backplane is for scsi160, you must plug it into a scsi160 card....

geesh what are you gonna do strap those babys to your suburban and power them that way?

i mean cal power called and said your substation wont be ready for two more months......

I have done it with two Compaq server drive cages. An it worked.

One was a four drive hot swap,

The other one was a 5 drive non-hot swap.
