| Well, after 3 years of use my ViewSonic VA520 is just to small for gaming... I am looking for a 17" now and I already know about response times when I searched the forums but I'm wondering whats the best brand and bang for the buck. I have always liked Viewsonic but it looks like the choice around here is Dell, Samsung, And Acer .( probably others but too much to list) I don't have the space for a big CRT so I have to stay with an LCD and a 17" is good. I would like to keep it around $300 for my spending limit. So, What do you recommend? | ||

Why spend all that money for a 3MS monitor that has a low brightness and contrast ratio? The Acer AL1722H has a brightness of 300 cd/m2 and the contrast ratio of 700:1... Plus it's 8ms. for $229 Trust me, the naked eye won't tell a difference from 8ms to 3 ms.

I've had a BenQ FP737-S and now I have a Viewsonic VA712b. Neither had dead pixels, both are FANTASTIC for gaming and movies. The brightness if great (i turn mine down like to 30% anyways lol). Viewing angles are good too, but I don't care if my cat and dog can watch movies with me, as long as they keep my feet warm lol. NewEgg has a bugger of a return policy for dead pixels (I think it's 8 or 10). Most bigbox shops will pricematch the internet sites, especially NOW at xmas time.
