Default Apple 30 inch Display on Windows

Hi
I am currently running a nice 30 in Apple Cinema Display on my Windows XP Pro. The Problem is I can't any resolution higher than 1280 x 800, if I try to change it the screen will turn black and stop showing anything... I have a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP 128MB. The Display is connectec via DVI. Is my graphic card too slow for that higher resolutions on that display or what?! I have been searching for this problem alot but have not found anything solving this problem.
Thanks in advance

According to the spec sheets for both the monitor and the video card, you should be able to run it at a higher res no problem. As a matter of fact, it's recommended to run at a higher res. First, make sure you have the refresh rate set properly. Another item that you may wish to look into is the driver. Make sure that you are using the latest Radeon or 3rd party drivers (which ever you prefer).

I am currently using the Omega Driver v.2.6.75a (based on Catalyst 5.10a).... So that should not be a problem, right?! I thought the refresh wouldn't play a role in flat panel monitor since they don't actually "refresh" the picture like a CRT monitor... What would a proper setting for the refresh rate be then?!

60Hz, though I read somewhere some ATI cards might not be able to output anything higher than 1280x1024 from the DVI. It certainly couldn't output 2560 x 1600, which requires the Mac versions of the ATI or Nvidia video cards they normally use, which have additional TMDS transmitters for the higher resolution.
