Default sata testing.

So at my new job i have a project this week. We have a ton of sata drives that i need to scan, and zero and weed out any failed drives. My problem is i'm very inexperienced with serial drives and my knowledge now is that i need to have a different controller for every drive. Meaning i can't just slap in a drive and test it like with the parallels, i'd have to install drivers from a floppy or cd evertyime i wanted to test a drive. I mean if i have to do it i have to do it, but i'd like to find some long term solution as configuring a system just to test a drive would take alot of extra time. Any help you guys can offer would be great, thanks.

Sata drives usually never need drivers on a newer mobo once the system and O.S is set up. Sometimes thay're hot swapable, it depends on the controller.

here is a work around...

buy a sata to ide converter...

then the maxtor/wd/segate/ibm boot disk diagnostic will see the drives

trust me i used to be a rma manager... spending the 12 to 15 will save you tons of time and $$$
