Ok this is the frist one of these i'm setting up and im reading the manual but it assumes you KNOW how this server works.

problem #1 i got no video, but all the lights light up and the "HDD online" light for all three drives are on.

problem #2 Do i need to run sever 2003 or can i use XP

problem #3 i cant find a place to download the "Dell diagnostic " floppy software

why cant they make these DaYuM things more simple'r

Oh and on a side note , seein' as this has 4 Xeon CPU's , can i run more that one instance of F@H

Well if I am wrong correct me but, XP won't do 4 cpu's.

I think you're right. XP will only support 2 procs max. I think you're gonna have to end up puttin' Server03 on it.

4 CPU's = no XP. I've also tried.

Those Dell PE's with Xeons can really crank out the WU's so hurry up and get server 2k3 on there and start folding man!

Well it might not be a Dell, but im picking up 20 more servers Tuesday ......... Compaq & Sun ... see what i can do ta put ol T2 in the server F@H business

Send it to me I would love to try to get it working, and it would make a kick ass server for my clan. We have been needing one for a months. Of course I would run f@h also on it..

Ok i got a 12pack BUDWEISER **an it aint light either** for anyone that can help me figure out why i cant get video signal

I cleared BIOS, I checked all connections , no lights to indicate a bad CPU or HDD or anything , just no picture .......... an i'm about to take a hammer to this rig an use it fer parts!!!!!

hmm not a whole lot on the mobo and runnig 4 chips, but have you removed the procs and tested them if possible on another mobo? also the mem? its unliekly that they are bad, but it is something to check.

also maybe try tossing in another vid card that is known tobe good and see if it fires up.

i always keep an old sis2mb vid card for times when the vid isnt working because windows drivers support it and it uses nothing but a pci slot. if you want one lemme know i can pick another up for like 12 bucks and ship it on. though after reading so many of your posts im sure you got a "FEW" spare parts around

side thing do yuo have any psus that are atx ver 1 compatible? i dont need the extra 4 opin plug, just the 20 pin atx, to run an old k6-2 mobo for a friend while the rmas go through. pm me with price if you got any extras.

I can tell you from recent experience that if you use the Dell CD (I believe it is called Dell Server Management CD or something to that effect) first to set up the server, only server OSs will be displayed for you to choose from, I went through the same thing at work about a month ago because my boss wanted XP on the server but it wasn't an option.
