Default w00t scsi drives!

heh i just got myself 2 new scsi drives!!
1 7200 RPM Quantum Atlas IV that is 18 gigs. then 1 IBM Ultrastar 10k RPM 18 gig drive (ultra 320, but the toehr is ultra 160 so i had to get a converter from 160-320 )

my reasons for doing this was mostly because the opportunity came up for me to get them cheap (relativelY) so anyways, i was just curious how many of ya here at PR are running SCSI drives

and if so, what speed, size, and connector.

brandon

the drives are sweeet but run hella hot!! i could heat my house w/ one in the winter!!

If you scroll down the threads a bit on this section you will see a post by me called "Need SCSI expert"...yah...I put a 9 gig 80pin SCSI HD to my girl's 233 to load songs and vids onto...its hooked to a 80-50pin conntector, then to a 50 pin PCI card...even rigged like that its still FAST...i dont have any numbers but its a lot better then running em off the IDE drive...

use intel's iometer. you can find work files at storagereview.com and 2cpu.com

i have a few scsi drives, ultra2, 3 and 4 (3 and 4 are otherwise known as u160 and u320) u320 is backwards compatible with u160, there should be no need for an adaptor unless you have different pin orientations, like a VHDCI 68 pin and a 80 pin or a VHDCI 68 and a wide68

For heat problems. I used a huge heatsink and fan assembly to cool my new 120 gig hd and my old 40 gig. they used to run at 160"F and now run at 89 "F.
