| Apex Techie Wannabe | i recieved my crucial pc3200 ram (512mb x2) today, and installed them into my system. these new ram replaced 1gb of pc2100 ram. now when i install both sticks of the new ram, the system will not boot into windows, even tho the self test and etc passed fine. also tried formatting the computer, but the computer wont load up properly. when i jus install 1 of the sticks, it boots up fine. done this to both sticks so i can confirm that both sticks are not faulty. i think it has something to do with the fsb they are running at. if i lower the clock speed to 333mhz it boots up nicely wiv both sticks installed. if i install 1 stick, i can get them to run at 400mhz. so wot the hell is gng on lol system is amd athlon 64 3000+ (S734) motherboard is gigabyte GA-K8VT800 | |

| Zer0s is probably on the right track. I tried to dl the manual, but their site is beyond slow right now. I saw one mobo the other day where you were supposed to install the RAM modules beginning from DRAM 3 to DRAM 1, reverse order. Some have limits to how many DDR3200 modules they will support, but I have never seen one that would not take at least two. Sometimes they won't take double-sided DRAM modules. It's time for you to carefully read your manual. | ||

| The new San Diego and Venice cores have an improved memory controller and will allow you to run both modules at DDR400 speeds, you may be stuck at DDR333 with your current CPU. There are a few things you may try to crutch the problem though... In the memory timings section, try using "2T" instead of the default "1T" Disable "Bank Interleave" Also, try setting it manually to 202 FSB, and make sure the memory ratio is "1 to 1" There are a few other settings that can be tweeked in the DFI Lan Party series, I don't know how extensive the Bios is for that board, you can see if there is a newer version, or maybe a custom one that unlocks some of these options. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | i have tried every possible combination with installing the ram. i think it is something to do with the fsb. ne wayz after hours of testing, i have decided to return this ram and use my old stuff. also for some reason it looks like this ram took out my motherboard, because when i put my old ram back in, the computer will not post. even when i boot with no ram installed, the computer wont even give me them beep codes. looks like i will now needa new motherboard instead lol. i am very annoyed. also does anyone know if i could RMA mu motherboard for a replacement on ebuyer.co.uk?? i have had the motherboard for over six months, so i would think that its still under warrenty. if not i will jus look into buying a new motherboard. | |

| my roommate has a 754 3200+ and his does the same thing. theres a thread around here somewhere about it. we tried use geil ram. 400 mhz single stick. 333 for 2 of them. evey time. so we put some kingston value ram in it and it worked at 400mhz with 2 sticks. but when we tried my corsair xms xl----same thing: only would run 333 with 2 sticks, but would run at 400 with a single stick. guess i need to spray for those mobo monkeys so they will stop messing with the ram settings | ||
