Thought all of you would like a sneak peak at the new chassis Dell is going to be coming out with. I personally like the Optiplex chassis better. But each his own.

looks like a good case to fit a radiaor into. almost looks like it was designed for that with that cuttout on the bottom half. just cut out that vent box looking thing ans a few more openings in the bottom half of the bezel and it would be perfect.

I gonna guess they are both BTX setups. The Optiplex for sure because I saw it a few weeks ago when they were anounced. Thats why they have the grill in the front. Its for a fan to suck in fresh air and blow it over the processor right away. On the Dimension it looks like the slots in the side take on this function.

Oh and just to let anyone know looking for a notebook. Dell is going to release a 19" widescreen in the first part of 2006. The order has been placed with Compal who will be building it.

Yep all Dells will be using their proprietry BTX standards from now onwards. Will interesting to note the state of cables inside....ATX dells I can just about neaten up...BTX on the other hand has SATA posts and power connectors in wierd places.

Im ust admit...I have a Dimension form the Socket 5 era...its built like a tank...bullets under a certain calliber wouldnt get through it...and its HEAVY...mild steel construction...every bit of the case save for the bezel. My mini would probably gain more damage trying to run over it then the case would.

The current dells...well when the startedthe black series of cases...are plastic and AL...some have interesting opening designs which allow good viewing of the motherboard and drives...but they are so cheap...the desktop versions creek in pain if you put anything heavier than a 17" CRT on them.
