Default Hard Drive Upgrade

Lately, Ive been running out of space for all my things. I have a main 40GB hard Drive, a 6GB HDD for music and..uh vids, and a 20GB for extra crap. I need to get rid of the 6GB, but im kinda stuck on what HDD to get.

I dont have alot of money to spend, what ever is in my wallet really..which is $50.

Now i have a couple choices:

1) 120 GB by Maxtor 69.99 with 20 rebate=49.99 (link:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Tab=0&NoMapp=0
2) This 60GB By Maxtor from Staples(price at the store said 45.99) (link:http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...al+Hard+Drives)
3) 80GB HDD By Maxtor Referbished though..(link:http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/t...mv_pc=dealtime)

My Choice is the 120GB, and i cant go with a 40GB..it seems to small..

If you can swing the difference until the rebate comes in go for the 120......

You can never have to much hard drive space.....I run a Raptor in my main rig and then use a file server full of 200GB hard drives for storage. I just had to go through and delete some stuff for space.

Yes, I'm surprised most ppl havent chimed in with the usually "Maxtors sux, buy a WD"
But me personally have had more problems with my WDs than Maxtors, I will stick with what works for me.
On a side note, i just got one of the 4 250gb drive i will be putting into my computer. Man this case is a b1tch to work with.

I have had bad drives from most of the big companies.

2 dead WDs - each after atleast 1 year of servce

1 dead Maxtor - right out of the box

1 dead Seagate - after being in service

......come to think of it I say one of the better drives right now are the Samsung drives - never had one of those go bad on me.....yet.

WD had a big problem last year. I had 4 drives crash on me. Something was wrong with all the drives manufactured in their Malaysia plant a few years back and there were problems with drives from 40 gigs to 120 gigs. The drive would either die within a month or last a year and die.

LOL this was drives manufactured in 2003 in the Malaysia (spelling) Plant. They were anywhere from 40 - 120 gigs so you should be safe. I think it was some type of problem with the motor over heating or some manufacturing error.
