Default Buyin new LCD need recomendations

Well so im buildin this new comp and using this current 1 momentarily and i was decideing on a LCD, since i have to get a new monitor anyway why not use it now? so i was lookin at a few and i kinda wanted to spend in the $170-$245 range with shipping and it has to be at least 17 inches.... I am extremely picky when it comes to color and brightness and I would like something that is vibrant in colors but not overpowering. Could somebody help another gamer out? Here are a few i that i liked, lemme know what you think.

ViewSonic is your answer. I have had one for 3 years now and it has held up very nice. The clarity and contrast is great. I mean sure, there might be better moniors out there but you gonna pay the bucks for it.

Another thing I like about Viewsonic LCD's is the color blends the monitor can handle.

number 3 would be the winner in my books for what you listed.....the higher the contrast ratio the better......also the 12 ms response time is very good...brightness isnt too bad at alll....id spend the extra 20 bucks and get that one.....

I have sold a number of the Hyundia ImageQuest 17" LCDs form Newegg. Everyone - including myself - has been impressed with them. Bright, clear and the color is right on. Far better than my SONY LCDs and about $100 a pop less.....

$219 at Newegg below.

Many of the suggested monitors are really nice but most of them won't be able to play games with out ghosting. You need to find something around 12ms or less to play games without ghosting (if your looking for a monitor to game with).

I'd recommend Dell flat panels. Go with an ultrasharp model as they have a higher contrast ratio and DVI input (as well as VGA).

You can find good deals on either the 1704fp or 1905fp.

Definately Dell ultrasharp. I bought the 20 inch model just for my gaming rig. Playing Far Cry and Half Life 2 without a problem. In fact, I was so impressed I bought another and replaced an old Viewsonic 17 on my server.

If you have something against Dell, I'd go with a Samsung or Viewsonic. Both are great screens.
