hey bud...

Boot off of the CD.
Right at the start, when the black screen says "Inspecting hardware" hit F6 a bunch of times. Then watch as it loads drivers and whatnot. It'll eventually prompt you for your floppy. Insert your SATA driver disk. Load driver. Install windoze.

Try moving your HD to a different SATA head too.

Also make sure SATA is enabled in the bios and its selected as the boot drive.

So far I have found two refrences, one is that the supplied drivers were not the correct ones for the controller, but I doubt this is your issue.

Here is a quote on the driver issue just in case.
Quote:
Many headaches later and I did get it to work. Unfortunately the performance is rather slow compared to the VIA SATA. The MSI floppy came with drivers for the Promise 376 and not the 378. Therefore when installing WinXP, it refused to use the drivers. I did find other drivers for 376/378 and those worked (don't remember where I found them but I did save them). In the end, I went back to the VIA SATA RAID for my OS and used the Promise SATA RAID for storage.

The other possible solution was the SATA cable. A guy claimed the one supplied by WD didn't want to play well, and he used the one supplied by MSI for the Mobo.

I am still looking and will post edits on this reply.

Unfortunatly my seagate didnt come with a floppy with drivers only a CD. I do have the SATA enabled and I know the drive works cause I was using it as a storage drive before.

Well than you need to follow what PJ said. If you didnt get the SATA drives on a floppy with your board go and download them from their website and put them on a floppy.

gotta have the SATA drivers on a floppy disk if you want the SATA drive to be the book disk. XP doesn't have native SATA support for your chipset.

Hold up I *think* I might have it... I somehow managed to get my dying drive back up and run Disc Wizard for Windows. Its making it my boot drive AND copying all my windows stuff.... Sweet! Well, I'll let you all know how this goes...

My *cough* Soyo Dragon2 doesn't use the primary IDE channel and the SATA concurrently. Don't know if this helps at all, but kept my PC from working for about 3 days. (finally found someone who had the problem as well)

It had a PRIMARY-SATA / IDE2 option in the BIOS. Go figure, I wanted to be able to use 6 drives

I don't think the floppy is for the HD, it's a floppy for the motherboards SATA controller.

Also, I am still reading and one guy did some digging and found the drivers on the Mobo CD and copied them to floppy in order to fix this.

Looks like there is an issue with the BIOS too, so make sure you get that flashed as well.

IC is right i shoulda specified your mobo sata drivers. Those will allowwindows to see the sata controller chip and allow you to install windows onto that drive.

I got it working with seagate Discwizard. Is it too late to ask for partitions? Can I partition after I have stuff on the drives?

you gotta use a 3rd party utility like partitionmagic or something like that, but yeah, it can be done.
