it might just be me, but i doubt it as i have had confirmation from several of my trusted friends regarding this, but wireless devices (particularly mice) have a noticeable lag, maybe not enough for many to notice, maybe not even enough to affect your enjoyment of it, but for me, it was wayy more than enough to force me to go back to my old intellimouse optical 1.1 (best mouse ever created, and most enduring)...

the lag is probably 1/10th of a second at most, but in fps, you can pretty well count on that being amplified...

also to consider, the newer microsoft optical mice use a very hard to get used to scrolling feel when using the scroll wheel (its completely smooth as opposed to having a sorf of -click- when you turn it), to me, this basically boiled down to a guessing game when switching weapons as its sensitivity makes it virtually useless as anything other than a web page doo-dad...also the wheel buttons are wayyy too stiff to use for anything, and the 4th and 5th mouse buttons are difficult to reach without having to take your eyes off the screen...

i would look at something that has a much lower latency than standard RF wireless, something along the lines of bluetooth maybe? i doubt its any better but its definately worth looking into....

as far as keyboards, its hard to beat the plain jane microsoft multimedia keyboard 1.0A, has all the standard bits, and nothing out of place

the MS intellimouse optical 1.1...

the MS multimedia keyboard 1.0a

EDIT: they are both extremely cheap too

if you are already used to the lag, then this wont feel any better, for me personally, the real deal breaker was the virtually useless wheel button and wheel scroll, i use both constantly in game and without them, the mouse felt like a bit of a rip off...

I guess i'm just not FPS wh0re. but i dont really see a big difference between that and my old intellimouse. i like the feel of the keyboard and the mouse. most ppl dont like em, but i do. ive grown into it.

I definately noticed a lag and a decrease in accuracy when I moved from wired to wireless (MX700), but I have become accustomed to it now.

I really love being wireless!

I personally have a wired set (old generic keyboard with a USB hub in it and a red MX510), but I haven't noticed much lag with the better wireless mice out there (Logitech MX700, MX1000). I haven't had much experience with Microsoft's wireless shtuff, but I wouldn't hold my hopes too high.

Me too Putwig, I really hated the mx700 at the start..but yeah...you get used to it.

Budget mouse I would say go for the mx300, non skip light mouse..awesome for gamming.

my mx duo set died on me.. the mouse had a meltdown cause the batteries sucked...

...it f*cking ruled til then. ^^

So now I've got this LX 700 cordless desktop set.. works just fine.... no real difference between it and the mx500 + mx duo's elite keyboard I was using before the RMA finally came through.. >.>
