Hey all, Can you guys recommend me a good wireless ethernet router? I'm looking in the price range of about $150. I dont know what to get so any information on what to pick would be helpful.

Hey Dark. Check out this review at Tom's hardware here. It seems that they recomend the Netgear FM114P above everything else with Linksys coming in a close second. You can pick up the Netgear Router at NewEgg for $161. Though I will say I am using the D-Link DI-614+ with no complaints. I got mine at Best Buy for 50 after rebates.

ive used a dlink dont member which model but it sucked. it was the 22mbps model. The first time i installed it, everything was perfect and then the next day, nothin worked at all. So i had no clue and called dlink, and they had no clue either. So i reinstalled it, and it worked. Untill the next day when it stopped workin again. So i got pissed and took it back to Frys.

I read a review on the DI-624 recently, seems like a good deal but may be overkill for most folks.

I have a Linksys, the router is good, but I don't like the receivers much, drivers crap out every month or so and it's a pita to install. :\

Use linksys here at home and at work. Works fine for us and we're pretty happy Have also worked with models from Netgear and D-Link, and don't have any complaints with either brand.

GOod luck!

I have an Intel 802.11b router and my D-Link PCI-bound wireless nic... works pretty good, but the packet loss and extra latency really kills the gaming.

PCI, wireless, and gaming don't go good together, haha. But we have used USB wireless at our LAN party before, dropped form 170kbs average d/l rate to about 70, and lagged big time! We weren't even on the internet either!

Oh,and also, the Linksys reception really sucks, there are so many places in my house where the laptop(PCMCIA) just cuts out, and even on my computer I have trouble sometimes.

Cool

If you get 802.11a (54Mbit) wireless there shouldn't be a problem afaik. The other standards (802.11b and g) can get "fubared" since they run in the "free zone" around 2.4 GHz.

FUBAR: LOL! Though I think your avatar says it all...

I haven't experienced any problems with my Linksys CF card for my Axim (knocks on wood). Although today up at school, it did cut out for a couple mins, but I looked around and others were frustrated as well, so I was taking it that mine wasn't the only one.

Also did a quick check over at Tigerdirect.com, looks like they got some rebates on wireless routers over there, check it out!
