Raiding

About to get 2 40gb hard drives. Thinking about raiding them but my current motherboard doesnt have built in raid support. I was just wondering if PCI raids are just as good as built in raid or if there are any drawbacks or slowdowns. Thanks

Actully you will find that a PCI raid solution is in most cases more effieciant that a built in RAID. Check up in the review section, GK has review to very kickass raid cards recently.

No, they work just fine. I used Promise cards for years without problems. There is no drawback except the fact it takes up a PCI slot.

No problems at all. I'm using a Promise FastTrack RAID PCI card for my 40gb IBM 60GXPs and it works great.
