| I have a monitor (hp v70s, 17 in.) recently i have been having problems getting it to turn on...it comes on for a second but shuts off...repeatedly...but it does come on on occasion. The pixels are the size of mini- m&m's, and there are a few dead pixels in the center of the screen....So is it dying? | ||

| Etiquette & English Gentleman | I had a monitor do the "turning on for a second & then turning off again" trick a few weeks ago - it died less than two days after first doing it. so "yes" is the short answer. You could try it on another PC (to rule out your video card, though it's pretty unlikely that's the problem) & try a different monitor on your rig to confirm, but I think it's probably time for a replacement. If you can get your monitor to stay on & the display is usuable, my advice would be not to turn it off again until you've got a replacement (unless you have to leave it unattended - in which case you definitely should turn it off, in case it goes out with a bang). | |
